This project was the winner of the National competition in Iceland in 2015.
Volcanic eruptions are frequent in Iceland, causing extensive damage to livestock and vegetation. The aim of the project was to examine if grass could grow back after having come under a shower of ash from a volcanic eruption and the effects of the volcanic ash on the grass. Authors of this project were Súsanna Katarína Sand Guðmundsdóttir and Kristín Björg Þorsteinsdóttir. They planted grass in multiple pots and spread over them different layers of ash. They found out that volcanic ash can have a significant impact on vegetation.
